Did you receive a lovely bouquet of roses from your one and only this Valentine’s Day? Lucky you!! Those blooming beauties may not live forever, but with proper care, your cut roses could last up to a week or more! Follow the tried-and-true tips below to ensure that your beautiful blooms stay fresh for as long as possible! (If your roses arrived already arranged, you can skip steps 1-4).
First things first, make sure to choose a clean vase for your flowers! It cannot be stressed enough how important good, clean water is for the longevity of your roses. You’ll want to fill your vase two-thirds full with lukewarm water, and then add the floral preservatives that you should have received with your flowers. The floral preservatives will help to keep the water bacteria-free and provide essential nutrients for your roses to extend their life.
Last October, we debuted our “Power of Pink” feature designed to raise awareness and funds to support Breast Cancer research, treatment and prevention. We personally love the feminine array of roses, lilies, gerbera daisies, stock, alstroemeria, all in our favorite pink tones! For every “Power of Pink” order we receive, Matlack Florist donates 20% of the retail price to local programs that support this cause.
This October, we would again like to recognize those that fight everyday to beat this deadly disease, and their family members and loved ones that support them. Many of us have been personally touched by breast cancer, and we like to encourage everyone to get involved, not only in October, but throughout the year!
If you’d like to send flowers to someone you know while contributing to a good cause, order a “Power of Pink” floral gift today by going to our website here, or calling us at 610-431-3077.
“Autumn is a second spring when every leaf is a flower.” Albert Camus
Autumn officially arrives today! However, the signs of fall have already been slowly slinking in. There is a crisp chill in the morning air. The days are becoming shorter. We find ourselves throwing an extra blanket on the bed at night. The leaves are just beginning to change, showing the rich reds, oranges and yellows of fall. Harvest festivals abound. What a great time of year!
Just as Mother Nature has begun her transition, we too here at Matlack Florist have seen the signs of the changing season. Our morning flower deliveries are showing less in the way of summer colors and more of the vibrant jewel tones of fall. And our featured floral arrangements have been updated accordingly to reflect nature’s path.
To kick off the fall season, we thought we would share some of our staff’s own favorite arrangements!!
“Spice is designed in a great reusable vase with a rich assortment of fall flowers and textures! ‘Country Elegance’ at it’s best!” – Jennifer Matlack, Owner
“Spice is definitely my favorite for the fall season! I love the elegant design of the arrangement and the vibrant combination of autumn colors!” -Erin, Sales
“Spice reminds me of a beautiful autumn field of flowers, plus it looks wonderful as a centerpiece!” – Anne Marie, Designer
